Postgraduate Studies & Research Office

Introduction

Administrative responsibility for postgraduate studies and research is currently undertaken by the Office of Postgraduate Studies and Research (PSR). Established by Statute in 2001, PSR is the central university body for policy formulation, administration and monitoring of postgraduate studies and research at UBD.

For postgraduate studies, PSR mainly administrates and reviews programmes and policies as and when it is referred to by Senate or Faculties. For research, it administrates and reviews research applications (research leave, research grants and research fellowship) which are strictly under the purview of the university and mainly in relation to the annual university research grant allocation.

Postgraduate Studies Mission:

“To strive to ensure that comparatively significant numbers of students receive an internationally valued post-graduate academic and professional education in their respective fields of study at the University. Specifically, the target is for the proportion of postgraduate programmes to expand at all levels in identified niche and relevant subject areas and for the numbers of postgraduate students to be increased to consist of 30% of total student population at UBD”.

Research Mission:

“To ensure that internationally acclaimed research is conducted at the University which will substantially contribute to the generation and development of pure and applied knowledge. Specifically the target is for the University to be identified as a research centre of excellence for the region in focal research areas of comparative advantage”.
