73 Awarded University Book Prizes and Medals

Universiti Brunei Darussalam (UBD) honoured the achievements of its excellent students at the University Medal and Book Prize Awards Ceremony on 4 November 2020, held in conjunction with the recent 32nd Convocation. Presenting the awards was the guest of honour Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Abdul Mokti bin Haji Mohd Daud, Minister at the Prime Minister's Office and Deputy Chairman of UBD Council. Also present were UBD principal officers and staff, sponsors as well as award recipients' family members.

A total of 79 medals, Book Prizes, and Excellence awards were presented to 73 students during the ceremony, five of whom were recipients of the coveted University Silver Medal Award. The Silver Medalists were Awg Lo Siong Wei, Dk. Norafina Syamimy Bte Pg Zunaidi, Dyg Liew Wei Juen, Awg Mohammad Hilmi Hamizan bin Haji Arsad and Dyg Priscilla Chin Yin Yee. Dyg Fatin Amanina binti Awang Haji Abd Azis is one of the top recipients of the year, having been awarded the Vice Chancellor's Medal. The special medal is awarded to a graduate with excellent performance based on academic achievement, co-curricular involvement, contribution to society as well as demonstrates solid leadership qualities.

Amongst the recipients of the University Book Prize, 8 students and 62 students from Master's Degree and Bachelor's Degree programmes respectively received the prestigious award for their outstanding performance. Of the 62 Bachelor's Degree Book Prize recipients, 25 were recipients for level 4000 and 5000 (majors), 21 for level 2000 and 3000 (majors) and 14 for level 1000 (majors). One student received the Book Prize for her outstanding performance in the Melayu Islam Beraja module and another student received the Book Prize for her outstanding performance in the Bachelor of Health Sciences (Medicine) programme. A high performing Diploma student currently in his final year also received an Award of Achievement during the ceremony. Brunei LNG SDN BHD also presented Acer Laptops to 3 recepients.
