CAMES Postgraduate Symposium: Techno-Economic studies of Microgrid for Sustainable Development Goals
The Embassy of the People's Republic of China in Negara Brunei Darussalam donated 307 books to Universiti Brunei Darussalam (UBD) in a book donation ceremony held at UBD’s Business Library. The books were presented by the Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China in Negara Brunei Darussalam, Her Excellency Yu Hong to UBD Vice Chancellor Datin Dr. Dayang Hajah Anita Binurul Zahrina binti Pehin Orang Kaya Laila Wijaya Dato Seri Setia Haji Awang Abdul Aziz. The ceremony was attended by UBD’s senior management team, principal officers, academics, students and embassy officials.
The books donated covered a wide range of topics including Chinese history, cultural studies and heritage, literature, traditional medicine and business and will enrich UBD Library’s literary resources on China. The book donation is in line with the close academic collaboration between UBD and higher education institutions in China. UBD is currently partnered with 13 universities in China including Zhejiang University, Peking University and Tsinghua University. Under the Network of ASEAN-China Academic Institutes (NACAI), UBD is partnered with Fudan University for academic collaboration.
UBD also has a tripartite university-industry collaboration with Zhejiang University in China and Hengyi Industries Sdn Bhd at Pulau Muara Besar in the Bachelor of Engineering programme (Chemical and Process Engineering). To date, UBD has successfully produced five cohorts of Chemical and Process Engineers whom all of them are now working with Hengyi Industries Sdn Bhd.
Other areas of academic collaboration include research in catalysis studies with Xiamen University, Beijing University of Chemical Technologies and South China University of Technology. In student exchanges, UBD’s Discovery Year students (credit-bearing 3rd year out of the university to undergo experiential learning) have undergone their Study Abroad Programme since 2011 in Chinese universities such as Jinan University, Xiamen University, Tianjin University, Xi'an Jiaotong University and Harbin Institute of Technology.
UBD's short-term Global Discovery Programme (GDP) has also hosted students from several Chinese universities such as Zhejiang University, Xiamen University, Harbin Institute of Technology, Shanghai Normal University and Xi'an Jiatong University.
In staff exchanges, UBD has hosted several Visiting Professors from Chinese universities who contribute to research and teaching in UBD, as well as collaborating with UBD's academics. UBD has also sent its academics to Chinese universities for collaborative research and teaching.
