UBD Freshers Week is an event organized by the Student Affairs Section with the support from the Students Representative Council and volunteers before the start of a new semester. It is dedicated to welcome all first-year undergraduates as well as graduate students to the UBD community. Through a week of interactive and informative activities, Freshers Week aims to create a comfortable atmosphere in which students can explore the diverse opportunities that UBD has to offer while meeting new friends, faculty staff as well as choosing the right modules to complete their programmes.
For this January 2020/2021 Intake, Freshers Week will be held in blended mode (virtual and physical) for four days from 4th – 7th January 2021. The event will commence with the Online Freshers Week Opening Ceremony and Vice-Chancellor's Special Address delivered by Datin Dr. Dayang Hajah Anita Binurul Zahrina binti Pehin Orang Kaya Laila Wijaya Dato Seri Setia Haji Awang Abdul Aziz, the Vice-Chancellor.
Throughout the duration of Freshers Week, students can access important information for their studies at UBD such as Briefing on GenNEXT programme, Brunei Government Scholarship, Module Registration, Examination, Faculties, University's Safety and Security, just to name a few via CANVAS. Additionally, online Q&A sessions will also be held to allow students to have all their queries about UBD answered.
On 5th January 2021, each faculty will organise orientations. This will allow students to be introduced to programme leaders of their respective faculties as well as their faculty members, and be briefed on the necessary modules.
Freshers Week will end with a Bicara Ulum, Doa Selamat and Asar mass prayer at Masjid Universiti, Universiti Brunei Darussalam.
