UBD receives book donation from Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran

The Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran has donated books covering 28 titles to Universiti Brunei Darussalam’s (UBD) Library on Monday, 22nd November 2021.  The books donated to the UBD library will provide students and users access to selection of Iranian books ranging from history, literature, geography and tourism.  Her Excellency Homeira Rigi Zirouki, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Iran presented the books to the Vice-Chancellor of UBD, Datin Dr. Dayang Hjh Anita Binurul Zahrina binti Pehin Orang Kaya Laila Wijaya Dato Seri Setia Hj Awang Abdul Aziz in a small ceremony at UBD’s Library.

Her Excellency the Ambassador has shared in her speech that,” UBD is ranked 69th in Asia by the 2022 QS Asia University Rankings and 250th in the world by the 2022 QS world university rankings. 

I am proud to announce that many graduates of Iran's top universities are among the world's scientific elites.”

Her Excellency informed that the book donation coincides with the book week in Islamic Republic of Iran.  During the book week, book fairs and lectures on book publications are held in schools, mosques, universities in all provinces in the country and selected books of the year and publications are introduced. This book donation is a step towards promoting scientific and academic cooperation between the two countries.

Her Excellency also highlighted that academic cooperation can lend to the scientific development of the two countries. Her Excellency is also proud to announce that valuable initiatives have been undertaken, which will achieve good outcome with the efforts of the officials from both countries.

Currently one student from Iran is pursuing PhD in computer science at UBD and three students have graduated with bachelor degree from UBD in 2015 in the field of science and arts and social science respectively.
