story

Recently, Universiti Brunei Darussalam (UBD) hosted the UBD Global Perspectives Webinar Series: Redefining Teaching and Learning Pedagogies in the New Normal. The webinar featured four esteemed speakers: UBD's Assistant Vice-Chancellor (Academic Affairs) Pengiran Dr. Mohammad Iskandar bin Pengiran Haji Petra; Professor Dr. Rossana Valéria de Souza e Silva, Executive Director of the International Cooperation Group of Brazilian Universities (GCUB); Professor Shingo Ashizawa of the Faculty of Global and Regional Studies, Toyo University, Japan; and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nantana Gajaseni, Vice President and Interim Director of MFU Learning Innovation Institute (MLii), Mae Fah Luang University, Thailand. Welcoming Remarks were delivered by UBD's Assistant Vice-Chancellor (Global Affairs) Dr. Joyce Teo Siew Yean.

The webinar was attended by about 300 participants from UBD's partner universities and friends across the world and featured on both Zoom platform and YouTube live stream. The esteemed speakers each shared their thoughts on how the 'new normal' brought about by the COVID-19 pandemic has unexpectedly created both challenges and opportunities in the way universities deliver teaching and learning to their students, beyond the traditional four walls of the classroom. Experiences were shared from each university in ensuring that learning objectives and outcomes are achieved despite sudden mechanism changes in the methods and modes of teaching and learning, which include student evaluations and assessments.

The presentations were followed by an interactive panel Q&A session moderated by UBD's Director of Centre for Lifelong Learning (C3L), Associate Professor Dr Jose Hernandez Santos.

The UBD Global Perspectives Webinar is a webinar series initiated by UBD's Office of Assistant Vice-Chancellor (Global Affairs) with the objective of providing a platform for discussing timely and relevant topics related to higher education institutions, whilst connecting to UBD's partner universities globally amid the COVID-19 pandemic time.
