The “Kidney Health for All” roadshow, organized by the Department of Renal Services in collaboration with Universiti Brunei Darussalam (UBD), took place successfully on Tuesday, 8 October 2024, drawing hundreds of participants eager to learn about kidney health and prevention strategies.
Held at the Pengiran Anak Puteri Rashidah Sa’adatul Bolkiah Institute of Health Sciences, the event brought together renal health experts, including consultants, nurses, and patients, to share valuable insights on the prevention, early detection, and management of kidney disease. Attendees also benefited from free health screenings and explored interactive exhibitions focused on promoting kidney health.
In her opening address, Hajah Wan Aslina binti Haji Ibrahim, Acting Chief Executive Officer of the Department of Renal Services, emphasized the critical role of public education in fighting kidney disease. “This roadshow is a powerful step toward raising awareness and helping individuals make informed decisions about their health. By sharing knowledge and promoting early detection, we can significantly reduce the number of lives impacted by kidney disease,” she stated.
The event featured educational sessions where participants learned about practical ways to protect their kidney health. Key lifestyle recommendations included maintaining a balanced diet, staying hydrated, exercising regularly, and seeking routine health checkups. The interactive exhibits and free health screenings further equipped attendees with the tools and information necessary to safeguard their kidney health.
