styleStudents who need medical attention for minor ailments, Pengiran Anak Puteri Hajah Muta-Wakkilah Hayatul Bolkiah Health Centre is only a 5-minute drive from the university. Due to its strategic location, the national hospital known as the Raja Isteri Pengiran Anak Saleha Hospital is only 20 minutes away at the heart of the capital, Bandar Seri Begawan.

Mosque and Prayer Rooms

The main religion practiced in Brunei Darussalam is Islam and this is reflected in the availability of designated praying rooms in the university campus. Every college, faculty, institute and departmental office have a prayer room close-by. This includes all the residential colleges, the administration building, the university library, the IBM-UBD building, Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences building, Central Lecture Theatre, Faculty of Science and the Pengiran Anak Puteri Rashidah Sa’adatul Bolkiah Institute of Health Sciences. The campus also has a university mosque which is shared with the neighboring community for religious gatherings and events.

Eateries in Campus

The catering services offered in campus has a great range of food and drinks. In the main campus, there are two eateries available, the UBD cafeteria and a PMUBD Shop. The latter is where students who are on the go could grab ready-packed food and drinks and rush to their respective classes. Meanwhile, if you have more time to sit, relax and enjoy your meal with your friends you might want to dine in the cafeteria where a wider variation of food and drinks are available.

All residential colleges including The Core, Male Residential College and Female Residential College open their canteen doors to the university staff and students, and the wider community. All three eateries offer sit-and-dine menu which are also available for takeaways.

Student Support

The Student Affairs Section (SAS) in the university has the overall responsibility of overseeing the welfare and student life on campus. The units in SAS include:

  • Student Services Unit
    Supervises various aspects of the welfare of students including advising the financial matters of the Student’s Association; Payment of student’s allowances and other privileges; and looks into the needs of in-service government officer.

  • Counseling Unit
    Conduct counseling session on academic, social and personal matters with students either individually or in group; organizes leadership and life skill courses relevant to the needs of the students.

  • International Students Services Unit
    To monitor every aspect of the International students welfare and to assist and act as mediators or liason officers between the international students and UBD, or Government ministries/department/embassies or others.

  • Religious and Spiritual Unit
    Organises religious activities and community services, and assists in providing religious and spiritual guidance and advice to students.

  • Extracurricular Activities Unit
    Organises students’ ECA such as cultural, sports and community service; and assist on students activities such as participation of tournaments or competition organised by various institutions or agencies within or outside the country.

  • UBD Students’ Association (PMUBD)
    To promote and safeguard the interests of its members within the University; to promote and project the image of the University; and to promote the welfare of its members.

Transportation

Shuttle busses and public busses are available in the campus ground. The former is especially for residents from The Core residential college. Van rental is also available for students and visitors which can be used for transportation on and off campus.

Students can also opt to rent a bike for more convenient mode of transportation. These bikes can be rented from PMUBD Rent-a-bike service. The bicycles can be found in the Male Residential College. There are four bike parking spots available on campus including Student Affairs Section, Educational Technological Centre, Male Residential College, and the Central Lecture Theatre.

ATM Services

There are two locations for ATM Service machines, The Core Residential College and the Student Affairs Building. The former is for Standard Chartered Brunei and Baiduri Bank suscribers while Bank Islam Brunei Darussalam, and Tabung Amanah Islam Brunei subscribers have their ATM services at the latter location. Hong Kong Shanghai Bank and Baiduri Bank ATMs are located in a department store, Giant Hypermart, about 5 minutes off campus.
