About

As one of the first faculties created during the establishment of Universiti Brunei Darussalam in 1986, the Faculty aspires to gain the national reputation as an academic leader in the area of business, economics and finance. To achieve this, the Faculty offers a wide array of degree programmes, including; Bachelor of Business (Major in Business Administration; Economics; Entrepreneurship; Accounting and Finance) Master of Business Administration (MBA), Master of Islamic Finance, Master of Management, Master of Logistics, Master of Applied Economics, Master by Research, and PhD programmes.

The modules for the coursework programmes are customised to produce graduates with marketable skills and leadership qualities in line with the contemporary needs of organisations in an increasingly competitive and globalised world.

At the international arena, the Faculty collaborates closely with regional and international universities through Memorandum of Understandings that facilitates research partnerships and networks, publications, faculty/student exchanges, academic workshops/seminars, and global engagement. In addition to local expertise, the Faculty also comprises of international faculty members from the Asia-Pacific and European countries with proven research in their field of specialisation and quality teaching.

UBDSBE became a member of the Association of Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB), well-established international accreditation body that connects business schools, students and businesses, with a mission to foster engagement, accelerate innovation and amplify impact in business education since 2014. AACSB has provided quality assurance, business education intelligence and professional development services to over 1,700 member organizations and more than 840 accredited business schools worldwide and UBDSBE is currently in the process of getting ACCSB’s accreditation.

Since 2011, UBDSBE’s Accounting and Finance programme has been accredited by the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) professional qualification and students are exempted 9 ACCA qualification papers.

UBDSBE launched its own journal, Journal of Business and Economic Analysis (JBEA), and the first issue of the journal was published in December 2018.

Aside from classroom-based learning and research, the Faculty also encourages students to learn beyond the campus, through practicum activities and the discovery year programme. The programme provides the opportunity for students to enhance their knowledge and skills through incubation projects, community outreach projects, internship at established organisations or study abroad programmes at international partner universities.

We continuously reassess our current position, strengths, weaknesses and opportunities to add value to our research activities and enhance the Faculty’s research profile to a higher level of international excellence.

We encourage our academic staff and research students to participate in collaborative and interdisciplinary research projects and working with leading universities around the world in order to develop ambitious and dynamic research culture among individuals in the Faculty. The faculty provides physical and support infrastructure to encourage research and teaching activities, and recruit, nurture and reward high potential or calibre academic, research and support staff. Our research activities are mainly driven by the Faculty’s core disciplines and research clusters. We aspire to achieve high citation index in research and become a leading research faculty in the Asia region.
