Brunei Intellectual Property Office (BruIPO) and Universiti Brunei Darussalam (UBD), with the support of Shell LiveWIRE Brunei Sdn Bhd, celebrated World Intellectual Property Day on 26th October, 2022. The one-day event with the theme “Intellectual Property and Youth: Innovating for a Better Future” was held at the Pro Chancellor Art Centre, UBD.

To date, UBD has filed a total of 64 patents, with 40 patents having been granted; 8 among them were highlighted and displayed at the UBD Innovation Wharf, which was part of the showcase for the public.
Shell LiveWIRE, through its ‘Forum and Dialogues’ programme, organised two forums on technology innovations and success stories, where speakers from different organisations deliberated on the areas of technology and innovation, and how Intellectual Property contributes to the success of an organisation. An Intellectual Property consultation also took place throughout the event, where the public was welcomed to seek advice on IP-related matters.
World Intellectual Property Day is celebrated annually on April 26, with the aim of increasing general awareness on Intellectual Property.
