The Faculty of Science (FOS) is conducting research on saltwater crocodiles and is seeking to appoint one part-time Research Assistant for 11 days per month for a period of 8 months, commencing in August 2026.
The Role
The Research Assistant is expected to conduct fieldwork and laboratory work involving genetic analyses, and to collect, manage and analyse research data. The Research Assistant is expected to prepare journal manuscripts and other publication-related materials based on the analysed data, and to assist in the preparation and management of procurement documentation and other research-related documents. Additionally, the Research Assistant is also expected to assist in supervising and mentoring Final Year Project students.
Minimum requirements:
1. Applicants must hold a Bachelor’s degree and a Master’s degree in Biological Sciences.
2. Demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills in both English and Malay.
3. Must have experience in fieldwork and laboratory experiments especially DNA analyses.
4. Be able to work independently with minimal supervision.
5. Must have experience in scientific manuscript preparation and journal publications.
6. Possess a valid driving license and have access to their own transportation.
