Bandar Seri Begawan, Brunei Darussalam – Universiti Brunei Darussalam (UBD) has reached another historic milestone in space-enabled research as its seed research payload successfully docked with the International Space Station on 17 May 2026 at approximately 6:37 p.m. Brunei time.
The mission marks Brunei Darussalam’s first-ever seed research payload aboard the ISS, advancing scientific research related to agriculture, biodiversity, sustainability, and future food resilience under the unique conditions of low Earth orbit.
The docking forms part of NASA’s Commercial Resupply Services mission following the successful launch of the payload aboard SpaceX’s CRS-34 mission from Cape Canaveral Space Force Station, Florida, United States on 16 May 2026.
Led by UBD’s Institute for Biodiversity and Environmental Research (IBER) in collaboration with Singapore-based Space Faculty, the initiative reflects UBD’s growing role in advancing space-related research, scientific innovation, and international collaboration. The project also supports the development of future-ready research capabilities and scientific talent in Brunei Darussalam.
