Bandar Seri Begawan, 9 October 2026 – Universiti Brunei Darussalam (UBD) and AmiproSimpor Sdn Bhd signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to build a long-term partnership that links academic discovery with industry experience.
The partnership brings UBD’s researchers, innovation capabilities and talent together with AmiproSimpor’s operational expertise and industry networks. Together, they will work on joint research, consultancy and innovation projects shaped by real industry needs, creating practical technologies and solutions that support sustainable economic development.
At the heart of the collaboration is a shared goal: to see good research become useful products and services. UBD and AmiproSimpor will explore technology transfer, intellectual property development, prototype validation and commercialisation, and will look for joint funding opportunities to carry promising ideas through to market. For Brunei Darussalam, this means more locally developed solutions and stronger capability at home.
Students and researchers stand to gain directly. Internships, industrial attachments, graduate placements and staff exchanges may give them first-hand experience of real industrial challenges and professional practice, helping prepare a workforce ready for the opportunities of a diversifying economy. Workshops, seminars, technical training and publications will also let UBD researchers and AmiproSimpor professionals learn from one another.
By aligning research strength, facilities and industry networks, the partnership aims to deliver practical solutions with commercial potential, strengthening ties between academia and industry and contributing to the objectives of Wawasan Brunei 2035.
The MoU was signed by Dr Hazri Haji Kifle, UBD Vice-Chancellor of UBD, and Dr Ashraf Ali Mohamed Kassim, AmiproSimpor Sdn Bhd Managing Director. The signing was witnessed by Dr Haji Masairol Haji Masri, Assistant Vice-Chancellor (Industry Engagement and Enterprise Development, IEED) and Pengiran Adanan Pengiran Seri Indera Pengiran Haji Ismail, Director at AmiproSimpor Sdn. Bhd.
