The Malay Language, Linguistics and Literature Programme, Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences, is conducting a research project titled “Sejarah UBD 40  Tahun: Teras Kecemerlangan Bangsa.” We invite applications for two (2) full-time Research Assistant positions for 22 days, starting from 5 Oktober 2025.


The Role

We are seeking Master’s and doctoral candidates with a background in History, proficient in both Malay and English. The selected candidates will:

  • Collect data on Universiti Brunei Darussalam, before and after its establishment up to 2025, from the UBD Library, the Department of Information, the National Archives, and other relevant repositories.
  • Conduct interviews with individuals involved in the establishment of Universiti Brunei Darussalam.
  • Draft a History of Universiti Brunei Darussalam based on interviews and collected data.
  • Provide fact-checking and editorial support to ensure accuracy.

Minimum Requirements

  1. Master’s and PhD degrees in History / Language / Literature / Brunei Studies.
  2. Proficiency in Malay and English, with the ability to write critical, well-argued essays in the social sciences.
  3. Demonstrated experience in data collection, fact-checking, data accuracy/verification, and editorial support.
