Universiti Brunei Darussalam (UBD) Library organised a motivational talk for staff and students on 28th February 2024, shortly after Brunei Darussalam celebrated its National Day.

Titled “Peranan Belia Dalam Pembangunan Negara” (Role of Youth in National Development), the talk by Pehin Orang Kaya Seri Kerna Dato Seri Setia (Dr) Haji Awang Abu Bakar bin Haji Apong, was attended by UBD Vice Chancellor Dr Hazri Haji Kifle, Acting Chief Librarian of UBD Library Awang Haji Muhammad Yussof POKKIDP Haji Awang Musa, alongside officers, staff and students of UBD, and distinguished guests from various institutions.

The talk’s objective was to instil a profound sense of patriotism among youths, particularly students, and to cultivate their understanding of their crucial roles as the future custodians of national leadership. In his talk, Pehin Dato Haji Awang Abu Bakar underscored the significance of youth empowerment and encouraged youths to embrace their identities while fostering a strong commitment to contributing meaningfully to the advancement and prosperity of their nation.

Throughout the talk, he shared insights from his vast experience in leadership and public service, inspiring attendees with anecdotes and practical wisdom. He emphasised the importance of resilience, integrity, and visionary leadership in steering Brunei Darussalam towards continued progress and success.
