1.  High Performance Computing (HPC) and Cloud Infrastructure 
 
  • Assistant Professor | Lecturer 
  Academic Position in High Performance Computing (HPC) & Cloud Infrastructure. The Institute of Applied Data Analytics (IADA), Universiti Brunei Darussalam, invites applications for a full-time Lecturer position in High Performance Computing (HPC) and Cloud Infrastructure. 

We are seeking an academic whose expertise spans distributed systems, cloud/fog/edge computing, and large-scale infrastructure design, and who is keen to contribute to IADA’s growing portfolio of data-intensive research and teaching. The ideal candidate has a profile of working on trust-aware resource management, fog/edge architecture, and cloud scheduling, but with a clear focus on HPC and cloud infrastructure at scale.   

1. Teaching & Supervision 

  • Teach undergraduate and postgraduate modules in areas such as: 
  • High Performance Computing and Parallel Programming 
  • Cloud Infrastructure and Virtualization 
  • Distributed Systems / Edge & Fog Computing 
  • Systems for Data Analytics and AI 
  • Supervise final year projects, master’s dissertations, and PhD research in HPC, cloud, and distributed systems. 

 

2. Research & Innovation 

  • Lead and participate in research on topics such as: 
  • HPC cluster architecture, performance optimization, and scheduling 
  • Cloud/fog/edge infrastructure for data-intensive and AI workloads 
  • Trust, security, and reliability in distributed/cloud environments 
  • Resource management, content caching, and service orchestration in heterogeneous infrastructures 
  • Secure external funding and build interdisciplinary research collaborations within UBD and with regional/international partners. 
  • Publish actively in reputable journals and conferences in HPC, cloud computing, and distributed systems. 

3. Infrastructure & Ecosystem Development 

  • Contribute to the design, deployment, and operation of IADA’s HPC and cloud platforms (on-prem and/or hybrid cloud). 
  • Work closely with technical teams to: 
  • Design and optimize cluster/job schedulers, container platforms (e.g. Kubernetes/OpenShift/Docker), and storage architectures. 
  • Support researchers and students in effectively utilizing HPC and cloud resources. 
  • Provide expertise and guidance for institutional and national initiatives involving HPC, data centres, and cloud-based analytics platforms. 

4. Desirable Attributes 

  • Experience in designing or operating HPC or cloud infrastructure for a university, research institute, or industry. 
  • Prior involvement in projects related to Cloud/fog/edge computing, trust management, or IoT infrastructures. 
  • Ability to link infrastructure work with applied domains (e.g., climate modelling, public health analytics, smart cities, industry 4.0). 
  • Strong interest in capacity building, training, and community development around HPC and cloud technologies. 
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively in multidisciplinary teams 

 

2.  Computational Modelling & Simulation 
 
  • Assistant Professor | Lecturer 
  Applications must have a PhD in Computer Science or related fields specializing in Computational Modelling and Simulation and has experience in Augmented and Virtual Reality and Graph Models.  

Applicants must demonstrate a track record in research. Teaching experience, both at undergraduate and post graduate levels, is an added advantage, and successful candidate is expected to participate in the teaching of undergraduate and graduate courses, including the supervision of graduate research students.  

Successful applicant is also expected to participate in administrative activities of the faculty.
