1.  Islamic Governance 
 
  • Assistant Professor | Lecturer 
  The Institute of Policy Studies (IPS) seeks highly qualified and experienced specialists in Islamic Governance (IG) to join the institute with the following responsibilities:  

  • Take a proactive leadership role in expanding current and future research outputs, curriculum development, and assessment within IG research degree programs and research clusters.  
  • Design and deliver modules in a transdisciplinary manner across Islamic Governance and related areas offered by the Institute and other faculties, institutes, and centers (FICs) at Universiti Brunei Darussalam.  
  • Contribute to Institute of Policy Studies activities, including workshops on teaching and learning, research seminars, and fulfilling administrative responsibilities as needed.  

Educational Qualifications: 

  • Hold a PhD in Islamic Studies (with a focus on Islamic Governance, Politics, Public Policy, Political Islam, or Applied Shariah) or a related field from an accredited university.  
  • Show an exceptional track record of research, particularly in conceptualising and applying Shariah or policies within Islamic or Muslim societies.  
  • Demonstrate excellence in teaching with a proven record.  
  • Preferential consideration will be given to candidates with experience teaching and supervising graduate-level research students in various functional areas of Islamic Governance and Political Islam.  

 

2.  Public Policy / Public Management 
 
  • Assistant Professor | Lecturer 
  The Institute of Policy Studies is seeking a highly qualified individual in Public Policy/Public Management to join our team. The successful candidate will be expected to:  

  • Teach core modules in the Master of Public Policy and Management (MPPM) programme offered by the Institute, and assist other Faculties, Institutes, and Centres (FICs) at Universiti Brunei Darussalam where their expertise is needed.  
  • Design, facilitate, and enhance teaching and learning methodologies, practices, and assessments for related modules in various contexts.  
  • Contribute to the Institute’s research and publication activities, including participating in research seminars and strengthening the Institute’s research clusters.  
  • Collaborate with academics and professionals both within and outside UBD to achieve global impact through excellence in research and innovation.  
  • Actively engage in community service and outreach, delivering talks and workshops at national and international levels.  
  • Undertake administrative tasks as required.  

Educational Qualifications: 

  • A PhD in Public Policy, Public Management, or a related field from a recognised university.  
  • Preference will be given to candidates with experience teaching and supervising graduate research students in various functional areas of Public Policy and Public Management, with a particular advantage given to those proficient in Statistics in Public Policy.
