Roles and Responsibilities  

The successful candidate will be expected to:  

  • Teach and coordinate Early Childhood Education–related courses at undergraduate and postgraduate levels, including MTeach, Master’s, PhD in Education, and forthcoming EdD programmes  
  • Supervise undergraduate and postgraduate student projects, theses, and research  
  • Contribute to curriculum review, programme development, and quality assurance in ECEC  
  • Engage in research, publication, and grant activities aligned with UBD’s strategic thrusts and the Sustainable Development Goals (particularly SDG 4 and SDG 10)  
  • Contribute to academic service, professional engagement, and national initiatives related to Early Childhood Education and Care  
  • Work collaboratively within SHBIE to strengthen teaching, research, and community impact in ECEC  

 

Requirements  

Applicants should have:  

  • A PhD in Early Childhood Education, Early Childhood Studies, Inclusive Education (ECEC focus), or a closely related field  
  • Teaching experience at tertiary level, or strong potential in teaching and learning in higher education  
  • Experience or demonstrated potential in research and scholarly publication  
  • Strong knowledge of inclusive and developmentally appropriate early childhood pedagogy  
  • Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and external stakeholders  
  • Strong communication, supervision, and interpersonal skills  

 

Preferred Criteria  

  • Experience in national-level initiatives, policy engagement, or early childhood professional development

  • A Doctoral degree (PhD or EdD) in a relevant discipline (required for senior appointments)  
  • Registration or eligibility for registration with a recognised counselling or psychological professional body (where applicable)  
  • Practical counselling experience in schools, higher education institutions, clinics, or community agencies  
  • Professional training in counselling theories, techniques, and ethical practice  
  • Demonstrated ability or strong potential to teach postgraduate counselling courses  
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, supervision, and collaborative skills  
  • Commitment to professional ethics, student welfare, and continuous professional development
