Project: UBD/RSCH/1.0/FICBF/2026/002 -Expanding International Research Networks for Collaborative Impact
The Research Office of OAVCRIS invites applications for one full-time Research Assistant position on the project ‘Expanding International Research Networks for Collaborative Impact’, commencing 1 August 2026. This is a 12-month full-time contract position, worked on a monthly basis.
About the Project
The project aims to strengthen Universiti Brunei Darussalam’s (UBD) international research ecosystem by developing a structured framework for deepening existing collaborations, initiating new strategic engagements, and measuring networking impact, under the Research Office of OAVCRIS. It will map UBD’s current international research networks, analyse how collaborations are initiated and sustained, and design a streamlined workflow and KPI framework to guide partnership decisions and follow-up. The project will produce a partner database, network maps, a collaboration workflow, a KPI dashboard prototype, and organisational guidance, providing a practical model for sustainable research internationalisation at UBD.
The Role
The Research Assistant’s responsibilities include administrative support for the research grant, elaboration of outcomes and analyses, and report writing. The ideal candidate should be able to demonstrate:
- Basic knowledge of the international research ecosystem
- Basic knowledge of data handling and management
- Ability in report writing and data summarisation
Minimum Requirements
The candidate should:
- Hold at least a Master’s degree (PhD holders are also encouraged to apply)
- Have excellent proficiency in Microsoft Office
- Have excellent command of the English language
- Be able to conceptualise and develop ideas
- Be a Brunei citizen or permanent resident
It is advantageous for the successful candidate to have:
- The ability to interpret data
- Excellent communication skills
- The ability to work both independently and in a team

Payment Rates
This is a full-time position paid at a daily rate, based on 22 working days per month:
- Master’s holder: BND 100 per day
- PhD holder: BND 130 per day
