The Center for Advanced Research (CARe) is undertaking a research project titled “Unemployment, Social Progress, and Fertility Behaviors: Brunei Darussalam Case Study and International Evidence” and is seeking to hire one (1) part-time Research Assistant for a period of nine (9) days a month for eight (8) months starting from the 1st of July 2026.
The Role
We seek candidates with a quantitative background in economics methodology and a strong desire to learn economic modeling. More importantly, we are looking for candidates with a strong interest and knowledge in development economics, with experience in econometric modeling, which would be a bonus.
As a research assistant, you will develop and apply your quantitative and qualitative research skills, including desk-based research, literature reviews, data management, and quantitative data analysis. You will also become familiar with research analysis software such as Excel and Stata. You will assist with quantitative and qualitative research-related tasks as assigned by the researcher.
Minimum requirements
- Bruneian citizen or permanent resident.
- Possess a master’s degree in economics (preferably) or related fields.
- Ability to collect literature reviews, data, and possess other relevant research skills.
- Familiar with data management in Excel; working with Stata or Eviews is an advantage.
- Communication skills and some level of analytical and problem-solving capability.
