UBD and other establishments of higher education are committed to increasing and enhancing opportunities for pupils with diverse learning needs to access higher education and graduate employment. This commitment is based on the philosophy of inclusive education which characterises the current approaches to service provision and affirmative action for people with diverse needs in Brunei Darussalam.
Counseling and Diverse Learning Needs (CDLearN) Office was first established as the Centre for Diverse Learning Needs in May 2010. It was established in order to cater to the increasing number of our students with diverse learning needs who require additional support, as well as to encourage and facilitate the establishment of similar services in other institutions of higher education in Brunei Darussalam. It also aims to meet the needs of students with diverse learning needs by providing good practice procedures from admission to employment.
Since its establishment, there has been more than 20 students who are registered to CDLearN for various learning needs.
In 2015, Student Affairs Section decided to merge the Counseling Unit with CDLearN and rename it as the Counseling and Diverse Learning Needs Office, who now has two main functions:
