Student Unions
The Persatuan Mahasiswa/i Universiti Brunei Darussalam (PMUBD), or UBD Student Union, is the official student association at Universiti Brunei Darussalam, established in 1986. Led by the Students’ Representative Council, PMUBD serves as the primary platform for student representation, advocacy, and engagement within the university.
Key Roles and Functions of PMUBD:
- Governance Input: PMUBD provides essential governance input to the university by acting as the voice of the student body in discussions with university administration. This includes participating in university processes that impact student welfare, academic policies, and campus facilities.
- Student Support: The Union is dedicated to supporting students throughout their academic journey by offering resources for academic assistance, mental health support, and peer mentoring. PMUBD also advocates for students’ rights, addressing issues that affect their academic and personal lives.
- Social and Extracurricular Activities: PMUBD organizes a wide range of social, cultural, and recreational activities to foster a vibrant campus life. This includes annual events like orientation week for new students, cultural festivals, sports competitions, and community service projects. These activities not only enhance student life but also provide opportunities for leadership development and social networking.
