Universiti Brunei Darussalam (UBD) showcased a project by students from the School of Digital Science (SDS) as part of a special exhibition organised in conjunction with the National Teachers’ Day celebrations held in the International Convention Centre on 3rd October 2024.
One of the highlights of the celebration was the exhibition which focused on Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics (STEAM). This year’s theme “Quality Teachers Drive Education Transformation” is complemented by a sub-theme that focuses on “Education for a Continuously Changing World”.
“RoboTeach: Futuring Together” featured a humanoid robot coded with local knowledge and equipped with a powerful Large Language Model (LLM), Llama which enables it to interact with people through speech and gestures. The exhibit demonstrated how SDS students gain hands-on experience in cutting-edge Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Robotics technologies.
Describing the project to His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam were SDS students, Mohammad Hafiz Izzuddin Haji Tejuddin and Amal Bazilah Karim who were assisted by Dr Ajaz Ahmad Bhat, Programme Leader and Assistant Professor at SDS.
