Universiti Brunei Darussalam (UBD) successfully held the dissolution and inauguration ceremony for the Student Representative Council for the 2024/2025 and 2025/2026 sessions at the Pro-Chancellor Arts Centre, UBD.
The event commenced with the arrival of the outgoing and incoming student council members, accompanied by their parents, followed by UBD officials and distinguished guests.
The ceremony was honoured by the presence of the Vice-Chancellor, Yang Mulia Dr Hazri bin Haji Kifle, who attended as the Guest of Honour. The programme began with the recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah and a Doa Selamat, followed by a welcoming address from Yang Mulia Dr Mursidi bin Haji Ali, Dean of Students, Student Affairs Section, UBD.
The Vice-Chancellor then formally declared the dissolution of the Student Representative Council 2024/2025 members and officiated the appointment of the new council members for the 2025/2026 session. Certificates of appreciation were presented to the outgoing members, with each executive chief accompanied by the highest-ranking members of their respective executive committees.
Subsequently, the new student representatives received their appointment letters, and a group photograph session was held to commemorate the occasion. The new council took their official oath to serve and represent the student body diligently throughout the 2025/2026 session.
A symbolic handover took place between the outgoing and incoming President of the Student Representative Council, marking the transition of leadership. Both students delivered their farewell and inaugural speeches, respectively, highlighting their commitments and reflections.
The ceremony concluded with a heartfelt performance of the song “Mendepan Bersama,” before attendees dispersed. The event underscored UBD’s commitment to fostering student leadership and engagement within the university community.
