UBD Strengthens Regional Research Ties at Elsevier Borneo Higher Education Summit 2025

Universiti Brunei Darussalam (UBD) participated in the Elsevier Borneo Higher Education Research Summit 2025 held in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah on 12th July 2025.

The summit brought together leading universities, researchers, industries and policy makers to explore regional research priorities and foster collaboration across the higher education landscape.

UBD Assistant Vice-Chancellor (Research, Innovation and Sustainability) Dr Haji Abdul Hanif Dato Paduka Haji Mahadi delivered a session at the summit titled “Towards Brunei Wawasan 2035 with Research and Innovation”, highlighting how research plays a central role in achieving Brunei Darussalam’s long-term national development goals. The session also highlighted Brunei Darussalam’s unique natural landscape which presents opportunities for research that can contribute meaningfully to the country’s development priorities and regional sustainability efforts.

In addition to contributing to the summit’s programme, UBD showcased its institutional initiatives and research capabilities through a dedicated booth. The exhibition highlighted UBD’s strengths in innovation, sustainability and community-focused research, underscoring its role as a regional leader in higher education and knowledge exchange.

The Elsevier Borneo Higher Education Research Summit 2025 served as a platform for interdisciplinary dialogue, connecting stakeholders from academia, government and industry to address shared challenges in education, environmental stewardship, health and socio-economic development.
