BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN, 2nd September 2025 – Universiti Brunei Darussalam (UBD) held the Opening Ceremony of the 6th ASEAN University Network – Student Affairs Network (AUN-SAN) VOX Meeting 2025 at Mitsubishi Hall, Central Lecture Theatre (CLT), UBD.
The ceremony commenced with the arrival of the guest of honour, Professor Dr Haji Noor Azam Orang Kaya Maha Bijaya (OKMB) Haji Othman, Deputy Vice-Chancellor of UBD, followed by the recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah by Religious Officer Ustaz Haji Muhammad Dzulhilmi Haji Moharefandi.
A video address by the Executive Director of the ASEAN University Network (AUN), Dr Choltis Dhirathiti was presented, in which he conveyed his appreciation to the organisers and participating institutions, while reaffirming AUN’s commitment to empowering student voices and strengthening regional cooperation in higher education.
In his welcoming remarks, Professor Dr Haji Noor Azam extended a warm welcome to all delegates and student participants, emphasising the importance of this year’s theme ‘Healthy Mind and Body’ in building a resilient and mindful generation of student leaders. He also acknowledged the critical role of student affairs in shaping inclusive, supportive campus environments across ASEAN.
The audience was then presented with a video journey of AUN-SAN, which showcased the network’s evolution, initiatives, and ongoing efforts to enhance collaboration and best practices among student affairs professionals and students in the region.
Held from 1st to 3rd September 2025, the AUN-SAN VOX Meeting brought together 24 official delegates and 40 international student participants, including local students from UBD. Participating countries included Malaysia, the Philippines, Thailand, Singapore, Indonesia, Vietnam, and Myanmar.
The main focus of the three-day event was the Policy Lab, run by the Institute of Policy Studies (IPS). There, participants were introduced to various Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools and they brainstormed ASEAN challenges, developing policies that specifically addressed three themes: AI Usage (Ethics and Tools) in Academic Settings, Mental Health and Well-Being Among University Students, and Challenges and Opportunities in Social Media Usage.
The AUN-SAN VOX Meeting – with ‘VOX’ symbolising Voice, Opportunity, and Exchange – provides a vital platform for student voices, intercultural dialogue, and professional exchange in the field of student affairs, supporting the broader vision of ASEAN integration in education.
This year’s meeting is hosted by Universiti Brunei Darussalam (UBD), with the AUN-SAN Secretariat led by Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM).
