UBD Launches Healthy Week 2025: Empowering Campus Community Towards a Balanced Lifestyle

Universiti Brunei Darussalam (UBD) has officially launched UBD Healthy Week 2025, held from 21st to 25th September 2025 at the CLT Foyer and Library Learning Commons, UBD Library.

Themed “Health Awareness for University Life: Take Charge, Live Healthy”, this five-day programme reflects UBD’s strong commitment to cultivating a healthy, active, and balanced lifestyle among students, staff, and the wider community.

The Opening Ceremony was graced by Yang Mulia Dr Hajah Rafidah binti Haji Gharif, Acting Permanent Secretary (Professional), Ministry of Health, who officiated the event alongside Yang Mulia Dr Hazri bin Haji Kifle, Vice Chancellor of UBD.

In her welcoming remarks, the organising committee highlighted the importance of health in academic and professional life,“University life is full of opportunities but also challenges that may affect health — from stress and lack of sleep to poor dietary habits and limited physical activity. UBD Healthy Week is designed to raise awareness and encourage proactive steps towards maintaining physical, mental, and emotional well-being,”

Organised jointly by UniHEALTH: Centre for University Life & Wellness and Campus Asset Management & Planning for University Life (CAMPUs), the initiative acts as a platform for awareness and action. The programme features free health screenings for early detection and prevention, exhibitions and health information booths on lifestyle, nutrition, and wellness, group fitness sessions, cultural performances, competitions to encourage engagement and mental health workshops addressing stress management and emotional resilience.

Beyond health, the event also brings together the UBD community through gulingtangan and singing performances by students, as well as local food and beverage vendors, creating a vibrant and holistic campus experience.

The programme aims to provide campus members and the public with access to health screenings and accurate health information, raise awareness on balanced nutrition, physical activity, and stress management. Furthermore, promoting a culture of holistic healthy living within the university and beyond while positioning UBD as a role model for a Healthy University and support Brunei’s aspirations under Wawasan 2035.

UBD emphasises that good health is the foundation for excellence in studies, careers, and everyday life. By empowering students and staff to embrace healthy habits, the university hopes to nurture individuals who can inspire broader societal change.
