Universiti Brunei Darussalam’s (UBD) 40th Anniversary Celebrations culminated with its grand finale held at the Chancellor Hall, UBD on 27th October 2025.
Present as the guest of honour to commemorate the occasion was the Minister of Education Yang Berhormat Datin Seri Setia Dr Hajah Romaizah Haji Mohd Salleh. Also in attendance were Council members, former Vice-Chancellors, registrars, principal officers, staff as well as specially invited guests which included 40 prominent alumni.
To bless the event and show gratitude for UBD’s four decades of growth and success, a recital of Surah Al-Fatihah and special Doa Selamat was led byMohammad Afif Dato Seri Setia Dr Haji Japar, Mosque Affairs Officer.
UBD Vice-Chancellor highlighted in his remarks that UBD’s success over the years have been the result of collaborative efforts from numerous fronts, which included staff, students and various stakeholders.
At the grand finale event, Yang Berhormat Datin Seri Setia Dr Hajah Romaizah officiated the launch of two books: Universiti Brunei Darussalam 40 Tahun (1985 – 2025): Pamor Kecemerlangan Bangsa and Kecemerlangan Ilmu 3: Koleksi Titah-Titah Canselor followed by the cutting of a cake and the viewing of a special 40 Years of UBD video which took everyone on a trip down memory lane.
In conjunction with UBD’s 40th Anniversary Celebrations, the event presented awards to UBD’s longest serving staff. The event also saw the presentation of the Staff Excellence Awards 2024 as well as souvenirs to staff retiring in 2025.
UBD students entertained those in the hall with cultural performances while a special exhibition showcased UBD’s journey and achievements over the years.
