Universiti Brunei Darussalam (UBD) held the Commemorative Stamp Launch Ceremony in Celebration of UBD’s 40th Anniversary on 12th November 2025 at R&C Café, Business Library, UBD. The event commemorated the university’s establishment on 28th October 1985.
The ceremony commenced with the recital of Surah Al-Fatihah led by UBD Religious Officer, Ustaz Haji Mohammad Dzulhilmi Haji Moharefandi.
The launching ceremony was officiated by Dr Hazri Haji Kifle, UBD Vice-Chancellor, as the guest of honour. Also in attendance were senior officials from the Postal Services Department, Ministry of Transport and Infocommunications (MTIC); Dr Rosdi Haji Abdul Aziz, Acting Postmaster General of the Postal Services Department, Dr Haji Bakar Haji Berudin, President of the Brunei Darussalam National Philatelic Society; UBD Principal Officers, staff and students.
In celebrating this significant milestone, a series of commemorative postage stamps have been produced in collaboration with the Postal Services Department. The collection features four unique stamp designs, in the form of a First Day Cover (FDC), a stamp sheetlet, and a miniature sheet, each symbolising UBD’s 40-year journey of growth, innovation, and contribution to national development.
During the event, Muhammad Khalil Hazazi Haji Abdul Latif, UBD 40th Anniversary Commemorative Stamp Designer, delivered welcoming remarks and shared insights into the creative inspiration behind the commemorative stamp series.
Following the launch, the guest of honour and attendees viewed a special showcase featuring the commemorative stamp collection, which includes selected products such as the First Day Cover (FDC), miniature sheet, uncut stamp sheet and rencana.
The stamps will be officially available to the public from 12th November 2025 at all branches of the Postal Services Department and will be valid for postal use, except for the minature sheet which will be serial numbered and available for purchase at a later date. In addition, UBD will offer exclusive limited-edition items for collectors and enthusiasts. These include a First Day Cover presented in a special 3D folder, a miniature sheet, and an uncut stamp sheet, each accompanied by uniquely designed folders. These items will be available for purchase at Treasure Cove, UBD. Members of the public may also place pre-orders during the launching event by scanning the provided QR code.
This collaboration marks UBD’s continued commitment to celebrating its heritage and achievements whilst fostering partnerships that promote national identity and pride. The stamp issue stands as a lasting symbol of UBD’s dedication to excellence in education, research, and innovation for the nation and beyond.
