Universiti Brunei Darussalam (UBD), through the UniALUMNI convened an exclusive Coffee with VC: Alumni Series, bringing together a select group of UBD alumni for an intimate engagement with the Vice-Chancellor, Yang Mulia Dr Hazri Hj Kifle.
The session brought together 10 alumni, now professionals and practitioners in their fields, who returned to UBD to share insights from their personal and professional journeys. The small-group setting enabled meaningful conversations, allowing alumni to exchange perspectives, reflect on their development since graduation, and discuss emerging issues relevant to their areas of expertise.
The dialogue also provided alumni with the opportunity to learn directly from the Vice-Chancellor, gain updates on UBD’s strategic direction and ongoing developments, and deepen their understanding of the University’s vision for the future. The exchange reinforced a shared sense of connection to UBD as their alma mater, while highlighting alumni interest in remaining engaged with the University beyond graduation.
Coffee with VC: Alumni Series is now the third component of UBD’s Journeying Futures initiative – a platform that highlights alumni narratives through podcasts, storytelling, and leadership sessions reflecting UBD’s values and contributions to the nation. The initiative aims to strengthen alumni identity and visibility through creative storytelling, professional dialogue, and leadership engagement.
Journeying Futures has three interlinked components:
- Alumni Life Journeys: Celebrates personal and professional stories that reflect UBD’s values in knowledge and service to the nation, highlighting alumni contributions across education, research, advocacy, and community building.
- Alumni Business Journeys: Features alumni entrepreneurs and innovators, highlighting their ventures, challenges, and achievements, while promoting alumni-owned enterprises and UBD’s role in national economic growth.
- Coffee with VC: Alumni Series: Provides a platform for alumni to share professional experiences, engage directly with the Vice Chancellor, and strengthen their connection to the University through dialogue and inspirational sharing.
