UBDSBE Students Organise Ramadan Donation Drive

In the spirit of the holy month of Ramadan, Universiti Brunei Darussalam School of Business and Economics (UBDSBE) and the Hand-in-Hand student initiative conducted the ‘Hand in Hand: Ramadan Edition’, a donation drive dedicated to supporting underprivileged families in Kampung Bolkiah.

Hand-in-Hand, a student-led project management module from UBDSBE, organised the event in collaboration with Hibiscus Petroleum, and volunteers from the UBDSBE Student Council.

The initiative involved a two-day collection of staple food items at UBD and culminated in a distribution ceremony on the morning of 12th March 2026 at the Yayasan Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mosque, Kampung Bolkiah ‘A’. More than 40 families from Kampung Bolkiah ‘A’ and Kampung Bolkiah ‘B’ in Kampong Ayer received essential food items to support their households during Ramadan ahead of Hari Raya Aidilfitri. The ceremony began with a tazkirah by the Head of Imarah Division under the Department of Mosque Affairs at the Ministry of Religious Affairs, Ustaz Haji Fansuri Sharimi @ Mansur Haji Md Ali. Following the tazkirah, Dean of UBDSBE Dr Wardah Azimah Haji Sumardi and Hibiscus Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Strategy Lead Yusrein Hady Ghani formally handed over the donations to the recipients. Attendance at the event included representatives from UBDSBE, Yayasan Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah and Hibiscus Petroleum, and the beneficiary families.

Guided by the spirit of compassion and generosity, the donation drive aimed to provide practical support to the families while fostering a sense of togetherness within the Kampung Bolkiah community. By bringing together students, faculty, volunteers, and institutional partners, the initiative illustrated the power of collective action and empathy, while encouraging a culture of social responsibility and volunteerism during the holy month of Ramadan.

All contributions were carefully sorted and distributed to ensure they reached the families. Beyond providing essential food support, the donation drive also hopes to inspire continued community engagement and a sense of shared responsibility for the welfare of others.
