UBD Spectrum 2026 Showcases Emerging Creative Talent Through “ARCHIVIA” Exhibition

Universiti Brunei Darussalam (UBD), under the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences (FASS), proudly presented UBD Spectrum: ARCHIVIA, the 6th edition of its annual exhibition and the final year showcase by students from the Design & Creative Industries (DCI) 2022 cohort. Organised by 73 graduating students, the exhibition represents the culmination of their academic journey, bringing together works developed through research, experimentation, and creative practice.

Taking place from 16th April 2026 to 17th May 2026 at the Ground Floor, Right Wing of Chancellor Hall, Universiti Brunei Darussalam, the exhibition will be open to the public daily from 9:00AM to 4:00PM, with adjusted hours on Fridays from 9:00AM to 12:00PM and 2:00PM to 4:00PM.

The DCI programme is a combined major offered by the FASS in collaboration with the School of Business and Economics (SBE), the Faculty of Integrated Technologies (FIT) and the Faculty of Science (FOS), presenting a wide range of interdisciplinary areas of study across art, design and media, innovation and technology, and business and management.

This year’s theme, ARCHIVIA, drew inspiration from the act of archiving and preserving fragments

of memory, imagination, and transformation. It explores how creativity evolves across time, reflecting

both personal and collective narratives. Through this exhibition, students presented works that bridge the past and present while showcasing their expertise across art, design, media, technology, and business, demonstrating their potential to contribute meaningfully to the evolving creative industries.

The exhibition is structured into four thematic sections: Origin & Identity, which highlighted works

rooted in culture, heritage, and memory; Echoes Within presented personal and introspective narratives; Vision of Tomorrow explored future-oriented and innovative practices; and Fusion Zone, which features interdisciplinary works that blend multiple ideas and approaches.

UBD Spectrum serves as more than an exhibition but as a platform for graduating students to showcase their skills and creative identities while promoting the Design & Creative Industries across generations. It highlights emerging creatives and their innovative perspectives, while also demonstrating the impact of creativity on both society and the economy. This reflects UBD’s continued commitment to nurturing creative talent through industry-relevant learning and experiential platforms.

“This exhibition stands as a reflection of who we are, what we lived, and what we choose to preserve. Because in a world that moves so quickly, we often forget the importance of holding on to moments, feelings and to stories that shape us,” said Siti Hawa Mardhatillah Natasya Ahmad Rafie, Director of Spectrum 2026: ARCHIVIA.

Visitors are also invited to participate in a series of Gallery Talks, scheduled throughout the exhibition period on 20 April, 24 April, 27 April, 1 May, 4 May, 8 May, and 11 May 2026, offering deeper insights into the creative processes and concepts behind the works presented.
