MS-UBD STEAM Week 2026 to Inspire AI Innovation and Community Engagement

BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN, 30th JUNE 2026 – A collaborative initiative between Universiti Brunei Darussalam (UBD), through the Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah Institute of Education (SHBIE), UBD SDG Community Engagement Cluster (CEC), and Maktab Sains Paduka Seri Begawan Sultan (MSPSBS) launched MS-UBD STEAM Week 2026 at the Chancellor Hall, UBD from 30th June to 2nd July 2026. 

Held under the theme “Inspiring AI Innovation, Engaging Community,” the three-day programme aims to strengthen collaboration between higher education institutions, schools and the wider community to promote greater awareness and participation in Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics (STEAM), with a particular emphasis on Artificial Intelligence (AI). 

The event serves as a dynamic platform showcasing student-led innovations, research initiatives and interactive community engagement activities, all aligned with sustainability principles and the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). 

The opening ceremony was officiated by Dr Haji Abdul Hanif Dato Paduka Haji Mahadi, Assistant Vice-Chancellor (Research, Innovation and Sustainability) of UBD, as Guest of Honour, underscoring the importance of fostering innovation and interdisciplinary learning in the country. 

Throughout the programme, visitors will have the opportunity to explore a diverse range of exhibitions, interactive workshops, and presentations highlighting innovative applications of STEAM and AI. The activities are designed to encourage curiosity, creativity, critical thinking, and problem-solving while demonstrating how emerging technologies can be applied to address real-world challenges. 

Through initiatives such as MS–UBD STEAM Week 2026, UBD continues to strengthen its role as a catalyst for innovation, sustainability, and community engagement. By fostering partnerships with schools and other stakeholders, the University is expanding opportunities for young people to explore emerging technologies, develop future-ready skills, and contribute meaningfully to Brunei Darussalam’s digital transformation and sustainable development agenda. 

Members of the public, educators, students, and industry stakeholders are warmly invited to participate in the various activities throughout the three-day event and discover how MS-UBD STEAM Week 2026 are shaping the next generation of innovators.
