BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN, 30th June 2025 – Universiti Brunei Darussalam (UBD), through its Student Affairs Section, officially welcomed a new Student Representative Council (SRC) for the 2026–2027 session during the Dissolution and Appointment Ceremony held at the Pro-Chancellor Arts Centre. The annual event marked the transition of student leadership, recognising the contributions of the outgoing SRC and welcoming a new council committed to representing and serving the UBD student community.
The ceremony was officiated by Dr Hazri Haji Kifle, Vice-Chancellor of UBD, and attended by university officials, student representatives, parents, and invited guests. During the event, the SRC for the 2025–2026 session was formally dissolved, followed by the appointment of 20 student representatives to the SRC for the 2026–2027 session.
As the official representative body of UBD students, the SRC serves as a vital bridge between the student community and the University, advocating for student welfare, engagement, and development. Through its initiatives and activities, the SRC plays an important role in enriching the overall student experience and fostering an inclusive, vibrant and supportive campus community.
A key highlight of the ceremony was the signing of a pledge of commitment and the recitation of the oath of office by the newly appointed SRC members, symbolising their readiness to uphold their responsibilities as student leaders. The occasion also provided an opportunity for parents and family members to witness and celebrate this important milestone in the students’ leadership journey.
In his welcoming remarks, Dr Mursidi Haji Ali, Dean of Students, Student Affairs Section emohasised the importance of student leadership and active participation in shaping an inclusive and dynamic university community. He encouraged the newly appointed SRC members to lead with integrity, responsibility, and a strong commitment to serving their fellow students.
The event also recognised the dedication and contributions of the outgoing SRC members through the presentation of certificates of appreciation. A symbolic handover of leadership from Siti Nur Aisyah Husna Abdul Rahman, President of the SRC 2025–2026, to Muhammad Danial Haziq Haji Abdul Ghani, President of the SRC 2026–2027, underscored the continuity of student leadership and the shared commitment to strengthening the student experience at UBD.
The ceremony concluded with a renewed commitment towards student leadership and representation. Through this annual initiative, UBD continues to empower students to take an active role in shaping campus life while fostering a culture of service, collaboration, and leadership for the benefit of the wider student community.
