Universiti Brunei Darussalam (UBD), represented by Hajah Maudena Haji Abd Hamid, Assistant Vice-Chancellor, shared UBD’s journey towards becoming a digitally capable university at the Future-ready Digital Skills Conference.
In her presentation on UBD’s Digital Transformation: Digital Skills – Academia Perspective, Hajah Maudena highlighted how the changing digital landscape, particularly the growing presence of Artificial Intelligence (AI), is reshaping the role of universities and the way students learn. Her presentation emphasised UBD’s approach across infrastructure, policy and management, as well as education and research.
A key highlight was NADI, introduced as part of UBD’s efforts to connect its various digital systems and create a more seamless university experience. The presentation illustrated the challenge of having multiple systems spanning learning, student services, scholarships, human resources, finance, research, allowances, career and graduation, and the need to bring these areas together.
Hajah Maudena also highlighted UBD’s focus on digital literacy and capacity building, emphasising that digital literacy is no longer an optional skill at UBD. Rather than focusing solely on technology, UBD’s approach places emphasis on developing the capabilities of its people and preparing students to adapt to technologies that continue to evolve.
