JOB REQUIREMENTS:
| a. | Possess knowledge of Islam, national customs, Brunei Malay traditions and culture, as well as the social, economic and political developments of Brunei Darussalam. | |
| b. | i) | Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Economics or related fields. Master Degree holders are encouraged to apply. |
| ii) | A minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in business development, sales or partnership management, preferably within a higher education or research commercialization environment. | |
| d. | Proven track record of successful business development initiatives and relationship management. | |
| e. | Strong communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills. | |
| f. | Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team. | |
| g. | Knowledge of the Brunei business landscape and global industry trends is advantageous. | |
| h. | Fluency in both written and spoken English; proficiency in Malay or other languages is an advantage. | |
RESPONSIBILITIES:
| a. | Develop and implement a comprehensive business development strategy to identify new opportunities for collaboration with industry, government, and international organizations; |
| b. | Build and maintain long-term relationships with key stakeholders in industry sectors relevant to the university’s strengths and research capabilities; |
| c. | Actively seek out and engage with potential clients, partners, and collaborators to foster new business relationships; |
| d. | Manage and enhance relationships with existing clients and partners to support sustainable growth; |
| e. | Negotiate and manage contracts, agreements, and partnerships to achieve business objectives; |
| f. | Identify and assess potential business opportunities and commercialization prospects; |
| g. | Conduct market research and feasibility studies to evaluate the viability of new initiatives; |
| h. | Collaborate with faculties and research teams to commercialize innovations and technologies; |
| i. | Work with the Deputy Directors to foster a robust entrepreneurial ecosystem at UBD, supporting the creation of startups, spin-offs, and other business ventures; |
| j. | Develop programs, resources, and strategies to support entrepreneurial growth and innovation across the university and with external stakeholders; |
| k. | Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure the success of business development initiatives; |
| l. | Provide regular reports and updates to the Assistant Vice Chancellor on the progress of business development activities and outcomes; |
| m. | Track market trends, competitor activities, and industry changes to inform business strategies; |
| n. | Organize and participate in industry events, networking sessions, and business forums to raise the university’s profile and create new business opportunities; |
| o. | Represent UBD at industry conferences, workshops, and seminars to build a strong external network. |
