The UBD Biosensors Research Group at the Faculty of Science is leading research with the foresight to develop new, low-cost, point-of-care biosensing and diagnostics platforms. Therefore, we are seeking to hire a full-time Research Assistant for 6 months. The appointment will start in August 2026.
Role of the Research Assistant
The responsibilities of the Research Assistant include, but are not limited to:
Conducting experiments and research activities related to biosensors
Assisting in laboratory experiments, sample preparation, and data analysis
Supporting the management of research budgets, inventories, and consumables
Compiling, organising, and maintaining research documentation
Keeping accurate records of quotations, invoices, and purchase/delivery orders
Maintaining laboratory equipment and inventory, and liaising with faculty and departmental staff
Eligibility
Applications are open to Brunei citizens and permanent residents who meet the following criteria:
Academic Background: Hold a BSc degree in Chemistry, Biotechnology, Life Sciences, Biomedical Sciences, Chemical Engineering, or a related field, or are currently in the final year of their BSc programme.
Experience & Motivation: Previous research experience is not required. However, candidates should be highly motivated to learn new techniques and willing to develop additional skills in:
- Electroanalytical and NanoMaterials Chemistry
- Analytical signal/image analysis
- Data analysis and pattern recognition
- Biomarker studies and Clinical diagnostics
