The Brunei Aquaculture Innovation Centre (BAIC), led by Universiti Brunei Darussalam (UBD), is a leading hub for aquaculture research and innovation. Our mission is to advance sustainable seafood production through innovations in smart farming technologies, disease control, and water quality management.

We are seeking a passionate and motivated full-time technical staff to join our team and contribute to shaping the future of aquaculture research. The appointment will be for a two-year period, commencing in mid-June 2026. We aim to appoint the technical staff for a two-year period, starting in Mid- June 2026.

Responsibilities

  1. Research Support: Assist in ongoing aquaculture research experiments and related
  2. Data Collection & Analysis: Monitor water quality parameters, record growth and experimental data, and perform basic statistical analyses.
  3. Laboratory Operations: Maintain aquaculture systems and laboratory equipment; conduct basic laboratory tests and data recording; ensure cleanliness and proper maintenance of laboratory facilities and instruments.
  4. Documentation & Inventory Management: Manage sample logging and record keeping; prepare laboratory materials, chemicals, and equipment; maintain laboratory supplies and ensure compliance with safety procedures and protocols.

Minimum requirements:

  1. Bruneian Citizen or Permanent Resident
  2. At least diploma graduate in aquaculture and fisheries
  3. Ability to follow precise experimental protocols and safety guidelines. Preference will be given to candidates with specialised knowledge in fish taxonomy, aquaculture, and population genetic analysis skills (preferably at least two of these), hands-on experience of water-chemistry kits, DNA extraction techniques and experience in conducting fieldwork and laboratory work.
