The Brunei Aquaculture Innovation Centre (BAIC), led by Universiti Brunei Darussalam (UBD), is a leading hub for aquaculture research and innovation. Our mission is to advance sustainable seafood production through innovations in smart farming technologies, disease control, and water quality management.
We are seeking a passionate and motivated full-time Research Assistant (RA) to join our team and contribute to shaping the future of aquaculture research. The appointment will be for a two-year period, commencing in mid-June 2026. We aim to appoint an RA for a two-year period, starting in Mid- June 2026.
Responsibilities
- Research Support: Assist with ongoing aquaculture research experiments, including feeding trials, water quality monitoring, genetic broodstocks, and disease control studies
- Data & Analysis: Monitor water quality, record growth performance and health datasets, and conduct basic statistical analysis.
- Lab Operations: Help maintain aquaculture systems and laboratory
- Documentation: Assist with the preparation of research papers, technical reports, standard operating procedures, and scientific publications.
Minimum requirements:
- Bruneian Citizen or Permanent Resident
- At least Bachelor of Science Degree in relevant
- Genuine interest in aquaculture and water-quality management. Ability to follow precise experimental protocols and safety guidelines. Preference will be given to candidates with specialised knowledge in fish taxonomy, aquaculture, and population genetic analysis skills (preferably at least two of these), hands-on experience of water-chemistry kits, DNA extraction techniques and experience in conducting fieldwork, laboratory work, data analysis using R or Python for statistical analysis.
