The Malay Language, Linguistics and Literature programme at the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences (FASS) is conducting a research project titled “Science Mapping and Bibliometric Profiling of Intellectual Production in Malay Language and Linguistics Studies (1985-2025).”
This project uses a quantitative scientometric approach to map and profile intellectual production in Malay language and linguistics studies over the period 1985–2025. It will involve compiling a harmonised bibliographic dataset from major indexing platforms, including Scopus, Web of Science, and Google Scholar. Quantitative analyses will then be conducted to assess research productivity and influence through publication trends, leading sources, and citation patterns.
The project will also examine collaboration structures through co-authorship networks at the author, institutional, and country levels. Science-mapping techniques, including keyword co-occurrence, co-citation analysis, and bibliographic coupling, will be used to identify key themes, emerging research areas, and potential intellectual turning points in the field.
Key outputs of the project include comparative benchmarks, visual maps, and evidence-based strategies to strengthen regional collaboration, research capacity, and the international visibility of Malay language and linguistics studies.
We are seeking to appoint one part-time Research Assistant for a period of four months, beginning 1 July 2026.
