The Institute for Biodiversity and Environmental Research (IBER), UBD is seeking applications for ONE (1) part time Research Assistant to conduct the duties of the Deputy Supervisor for Kuala Belalong Field Studies Centre (KBFSC), for a period of seven (7) months from 1st September 2025 to  30th March 2026.


Job Description

The roles of the Research Assistant include:

  • Staff management.
  • Maintenance of buildings, infrastructures, field facilities and equipment.
  • Supplies and waste management.
  • Organization of visits.

Minimum requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Biological Sciences (or equivalent degree in the related field).
  • Brunei citizens.
  • Possess valid driver’s license with own transportation.
  • Open to male applicants only.
  • Satisfactory fitness level with no chronic diseases.
  • Work experience in administration, management, hospitality, maintenance, and repairs of research equipment and other infrastructure, especially in a remote field research centre or equivalent is an advantage.
  • Experience with health and safety matters, and first aid training, is an advantage.
  • Ample experience fieldwork experience at KBFSC or other forest sites in Brunei.

Other conditions:

  • Expected to work overnight and work out-of-office hours in KBFSC for extended periods including Saturday, Sunday, and public holidays.

Rates:

  • Bachelor’s degree holders: BND 119.50 per day working for 9 days a month.
