The Sultan Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Centre for Islamic Studies is conducting research on “Deviant Behavior Experiences of Contemporary Muslim Women” (Research Grant: UBD/RSCH/1.15/FICBF(b)/2023/005) and seeks to hire one (1) part-time Research Assistant with HND for a period of 4 months starting from 1st February 2025 to 31st May 2025.
The Role
We seek a candidate with adequate knowledge, skills, and experience in qualitative approach, particularly conducting interviews, transcription, and coding. Some of the roles include, but not limited to assisting researchers with experiments/fieldwork and primary data collection (interviews /observations, etc.); and assisting in preparation of Fin 2 forms, procurement documentations and other research related documents for research project. Candidates are expected to be familiar with and involved in undertaking literature review, primarily organizing materials. Candidates are also required to perform tasks concerning the project and others related to the Centre and the University as directed by the Principal Investigator.
Minimum requirements:
- Brunei citizen or permanent resident
- An HND in any relevant discipline in social sciences, health sciences, or management.
- Qualitative research skills and able to organize materials as required (a practical test will be given during the interview).
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
- Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)
- Professional attitude and good interpersonal skills
- Valid driving license
