Part-time Research Assistant for the Institute for Biodiversity and Environmental Research

The Institute for Biodiversity and Environmental Research (IBER), UBD is seeking applications for one position of part-time Research Assistant starting from 1st October 2024 until 30th April 2025 (7 months duration) to assist with IBER’s database development.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the development and enhancement of IBER’s biodiversity database.
  • Review and categorize large volumes of wildlife images and videos.
  • Create a centralized, accessible repository for wildlife data.
  • Review published papers to extract relevant species information and compile a comprehensive species list database.
  • Assist in data analysis to support research findings and database improvements.
  • Assist with converting physical maps, photographs, and other hardcopy data into digital formats.

Minimum requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Biological Sciences (or equivalent degree in the related field).
  • Brunei citizens or permanent residents.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Familiarity with photo and database management is an advantage.
  • The ability to recognize Bornean wildlife species is an advantage.

Rates:

  • Bachelor holders: BND 119.50 per day including SPK.
