Universiti Brunei Darussalam (UBD) officially launched its Open Day on 15th February 2023.
Present to officiate UBD Open Day 2023 was the Guest of Honour UBD Vice Chancellor Dr Hazri Haji Kifle. Also in attendance were principal officers, staff and students of UBD.
An annual event that encourages school-leavers, graduates and working professionals to further their education in UBD to develop skills necessary for the workplace, this year’s Open Day is the biggest physical event since the COVID-19 pandemic pushed organisers to hold it online in 2019 and eventually a hybrid of both online and in-person the following years.
Visitors to UBD Open Day comprised of prospective students, parents and guardians as well as graduates and working professionals who had the opportunity to speak to representatives from the different academic, research and service faculties. The event hosted corporate offices such as Entrepreneurship Village (EV); UBD Corp; and Friends of UBD which consist of local partners, Government agencies and others whom have had collaboration with UBD through research and events. The Centre of Networking, Employment & Career Training (CoNECT) is also available to respond to enquiries in person.
After officiating UBD Open Day, Dr Hazri also launched the new UBD website. Aside from a fresh new look incorporating its brand colours, it features efficient navigation of online content as well as easy accessibility to the latest information on the campus, faculties, facilities, programmes and news. In addition to a variety of online options to reach out to university representatives, the website includes a live chat function. During working hours (7:45am to 5pm), visitors to the website can chat directly with university representatives. Outside of those hours, they will be directed to a chatbot which should be able to provide answers on specific topics. Furthermore. UBD is now on Talian Darussalam 123. Phone operators will be on hand to respond to frequently asked questions.
Also available on the website is access to the UBD Feedback System, e-help. It is an online platform for stakeholders to provide input and receive feedback on the various services in UBD. User, which may include staff and students, create an account and submit tickets with feedback details for respective departments in the university to respond with the necessary resolutions.
At UBD Open Day, UBD presents a novel way for students to earn benefits through their Student Card by gaining attractive discounts from 30 participating vendors in Brunei.
Ranging from Food and Beverages to Retail, including Airlines as well, UBD students will be uplifted to learn that there are many perks provided during their time on campus.
UBD Open Day will be held from 15th to 17th February 2023 in the Chancellor Hall, UBD. The event will be open to the public from 8am to 4pm, except on Friday when it will be closed from 12pm to 2pm.
