Bandar Seri Begawan, Brunei, 23 April 2024 – Universiti Brunei Darussalam (UBD) and Go Rush Express signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on 23rd April 2024. The signing ceremony took place at UBD, marking the beginning of a significant partnership aimed at the internationalisation of higher education.
Signing on behalf of UBD was Vice Chancellor Dr Hazri Haji Kifle and Managing Director Danny Chua signed on behalf of Go Rush Express. Senior management and staff from both organisations also attended the ceremony.
This collaboration establishes a foundation for cooperation in research, education, and training programs that are of mutual interest to both parties. It represents a strategic step towards enhancing the role of logistics in Brunei’s economy, particularly in alignment with the objectives of Brunei Darussalam’s Vision 2035.
Danny Chua, Managing Director of Go Rush Express, emphasised the critical role of logistics in national development, “In Brunei Darussalam, the logistics sector is acknowledged as a cornerstone for national economic stability and expansion, in alignment with the objectives of Vision 2035.”
Dr Hazri Haji Kifle, the Vice Chancellor of Universiti Brunei Darussalam (UBD), highlighted the academic benefits of the partnership between UBD and Go Rush Express. ‘’The partnership will play a vital role in achieving Brunei Vision 2035, the national agenda that aims to transform Brunei into a nation renowned for its well-educated and highly skilled population. This partnership will not only focus on technical skills but also on nurturing critical skills required for future jobs, such as leadership, resilience, innovation, creativity, and complex problem-solving’’.
The partnership includes several pivotal initiatives aimed at fostering collaboration and advancing international understanding. These initiatives encompass the development of specific programmes of collaboration, providing internship opportunities for UBD students during every semester as part of the Discovery Year (DY) programme, and the commitment by Go Rush Express to offer six annual positions to UBD graduates specialising in Logistics and Supply Chain, Marketing, Finance and IT. Additionally, the partnership seeks to explore potential joint research in fields of mutual interest, further enhancing the educational and practical experiences for students and faculty alike.
