UBD Signs MOU with Open University Malaysia (OUM)

Universiti Brunei Darussalam (UBD) and Open University Malaysia (OUM) have formalised their partnership by signing a memorandum of understanding (MOU) on 25th October 2024.

The agreement was signed by Dr Hazri bin Haji Kifle, Vice-Chancellor of UBD, and Professor Dr Ahmad Izanee bin Awang, Vice-Chancellor of OUM. Also present to witness the signing were Dr Haji Masairol bin Haji Masri, Assistant Vice-Chancellor (Industry Engagement and Enterprise Development) of UBD, and Professor Datuk Dr Mohd Tajudin Md Ninggal, Vice President (Academic and Research) of OUM.  The Vice-Chancellor of UBD was in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia to attend OUM’s 28th Convocation held at Merdeka Hall, World Trade Centre, Kuala Lumpur.

The MOU outlines several collaborative areas, including the exchange of students and faculty, joint academic publications, research initiatives and internship opportunities. Both institutions are particularly focused on enhancing lifelong learning opportunities, aiming to contribute to international policies in this area.

Since the introduction of the Discovery Year programne in 2011, Malaysia has become one of several popular destinations for UBD students. To date, more than 1,600 students have participated in various study abroad, internship, and community outreach programmes through UBD’s partnerships in Malaysia.
