UBD, Snibe Forge Partnership to Advance Biomedical Education and Innovation

Universiti Brunei Darussalam (UBD) formalised a strategic partnership with Shenzhen New Industries Biomedical Engineering Co Ltd (Snibe) by signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) at Snibe’s headquarters in Shenzhen, China on 20th January 2025.

Strengthening ties between academia and industry in the biomedical sector, the partnership aims to promote collaboration in student and staff mobility, research, and specialised training. Key initiatives include exchange programmes and internships for students and staff, the development of joint research projects in biomedical innovation, and the creation of specialised training programmes in advanced biomedical diagnostics.

Signing the MoU on behalf of UBD was Vice-Chancellor Dr Hazri Haji Kie and on behalf of Snibe was its Chairman and General Manager Dr Rao Wei. Present to witness the momentous occasion were UBD Assistant Vice-Chancellor (Global Engagement) Dr Joyce Teo Siew Yean, UBD Assistant Vice-Chancellor (Industry Engagement and Enterprise Development) Dr Masairol Haji Masri, Dean of Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah Institute of Education (SHBIE) Dr Hajah Hardimah Haji Mohd Said, as well as Snibe’s Vice-President of International Business Lucy Liu and Snibe Management.

During the MoU signing ceremony, Dr Hazri emphasised the importance of this collaboration in driving impactful research and expanding global opportunities for UBD students and staff.

Snibe has been dedicated to the field of clinical laboratory instruments and in vitro diagnostics for 30 years, consistently contributing its expertise and innovation to the advancement of human health. It is also the first FDA-cleared chemiluminescence immunoassay manufacturer in China.
