On 31st January 2025, Universiti Brunei Darussalam (UBD) held a “Tadabbur Khas” event for staff and students to commemorate the Isra’ and Mi’raj for the year 1446H.
Organised by the Spiritual and Community Services Unit, Student Affairs Section (SAS), the Tadabbur which was titled “Sembahyang Mencerdaskan
Minda”, was delivered by Ustaz Awang Muhammad Yussof Haji Abdul Majid, Special Duties Officer of Counseling and Religious Understanding Division, Ministry of Religious Affairs.
Held at the University Mosque, the event was also attended by UBD Vice-Chancellor Dr Hazri Haji Kifle.
Ustaz Awang Muhammad Yussof’s talk highlighted the significance of prayer in sharpening the mind, strengthening the soul, and deepening religious understanding in everyday life. It served not only as a means to strengthen bonds between students and staff but also as an opportunity to deepen the understanding and reflection of the important event of Isra’and Mi’raj.
Open to all staff and students, Tadabbur Al-Quran is held every Friday at the University Mosque as part of UBD’s Quranic Journey initiative which began in 2023. Invited speakers, scholars and religious experts break down different verses and surah for the audience to better understand the teachings contained in the Al-Quran. One of the most prominent Tadabbur Al-Quran sessions was delivered by State Mufti Pehin Datu Seri Maharaja Dato Paduka Seri Setia Dr Ustaz Haji Awang Abdul Aziz Juned in February 2024.
