Universiti Brunei Darussalam (UBD) and Kehasan Sdn Bhd signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on 10th February 2025. The signing was held at the UBD Campus and facilitated by the Office of the Assistant Vice-Chancellor (Industry Engagement and Enterprise Development).
The MoU was signed by Kehasan’s Director Pengiran Dato Paduka Osman Patra and UBD Vice-Chancellor Dr Hazri Haji Kifle, witnessed by Kehasan’s Managing Director Jeffrey Shim and Associate Professor Dr Malai Haniti Sheikh Abdul Hamid, Director of the Centre for Advanced Material and Energy Sciences (CAMES).
This MoU aims to strengthen the research collaboration between industry and academic institutions by providing a platform for demonstrating findings from laboratory-based academic research in real-time industrial environments. This will increase the technological readiness level (TRL) of laboratory-based technological developments and promote the commercialisation of academic research.
The MoU will leverage the strengths of both parties, blending academic expertise from UBD with the practical know-how and industrial connectivity from Kehasan. This will potentially lead to an increase in the range of sustainable solutions and services Kehasan can provide to its customer base.
UBD has identified potential areas for collaboration between Kehasan and the Centre for Advanced Material and Energy Sciences (CAMES) including transforming landfill waste for water treatment and green recovery of electronic waste. These endeavours can contribute towards cultivating a circular economy for Brunei Darussalam through relevant technological development and human capacity-building.
UBD actively seeks industrial collaborations and partnerships. For further inquiries or partnership opportunities, please contact the Office of the Assistant Vice-Chancellor (Industry Engagement and Enterprise Development) at industry.ieed@ubd.edu.bn.
