UBD Shares Ramadhan Spirit with Orphans, Widows, and Mualaf

Universiti Brunei Darussalam (UBD), through the Spiritual and Community Service Unit of the Student Affairs Section, hosted a donation ceremony and Iftar gathering recently.

The event brought together students and staff in the spirit of unity and charity, with Dr Hazri Haji Kifle, the Vice-Chancellor of UBD, as the guest of honour.

The ceremony began with the recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah and Tahlil prayer led by UBD Religious Officer, Ustaz Haji Mohammad Dzulhilmi bin Haji Moharefandi. A key highlight of the evening was the presentation of donations by Dr Hazri to orphans, single mothers, and new Muslim converts (Mualaf) from UBD, emphasising the spirit of giving during the holy month of Ramadhan.

This initiative aligns with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 1: No Poverty, reflecting UBD’s commitment to supporting vulnerable groups in the community. By extending aid to orphans, widows, and Mualaf, the university helps alleviate financial burdens and fosters inclusive social support systems, ensuring those in need are not left behind.

The event concluded with a recitation of Doa Selamat, followed by the breaking of the fast and the congregational Maghrib prayer. Guests then enjoyed a meal together, marking the end of a meaningful and fulfilling gathering.

This ceremony was a wonderful opportunity for the UBD community to come together, share in the blessings of Ramadhan, and actively contribute to poverty alleviation and social inclusion.
